Having driven past the White Rabbit on numerous occasions, we decided it was about time we popped in for a bite to eat.  Dogs are welcome anywhere in the bar area, so we chose a lovely seat by the large windows looking out onto the terrace where we could watch the world go by.  A dog bowl was provided as soon as we sat down, along with a special menu for their furry friends!  For less than a tenner, we enjoyed a starter and a sandwich from their lunchtime menu - excellent value and very tasty.

Beachcomber Cafe, 5 Marine Drive East, Barton on Sea, New Milton BH25 7DT

Situated on the clifftop at Barton, we were pleased to discover the Beachcomber Cafe after a long walk along the beach with the dog. Being a cold, wet miserable day, it was great to be welcomed to a table right by the log burning fire with great views across the sea to the Isle of Wight and the Needles.  We enjoyed warming cups of coffee, along with a goat’s cheese pasta and a delicious beef stew. Well behaved dogs are welcome throughout.

Stanwell House Hotel, 14-15 High Street, Lymington SO41 9AA

Situated towards the quay end of the High Street, this privately owned boutique hotel is well worth a visit when out walking or shopping with your dog.  We, and the dog, were greeted by friendly, efficient staff and shown through to the gorgeous conservatory - an airy warm space with comfortable wicker seats, tastefully decorated with lots of plants.  We were just after a snack, so we chose a Salad Nicoise and a delicious Fish Finger Sandwich washed down with flat whites. A truly relaxing and enjoyable lunchtime treat where we were made to feel extremely welcome.
